Sir,
I beg to bring before you in defence of the report that has been preferred against me by prisoner Brown for an assault. The following :- That I have already fulfilled a period of eighteen months in this Gaol, during which time I can appeal to the Superintendent and my other superior Officers as to the character I have borne during such service.
